Today I will show how to become a voter online, how you can register for your National Identity Card (NID Online Registration) with the help of mobile or computer.
New Voter Registration Online
You must be at least 16 years of age to register as a new voter online. If you are 16 years or older but have not yet registered for a National Identity Card, you can apply for a new National Identity Card online.
Then submit your application to the concerned Upazila / Thana Election Office along with the required documents. Later after verification of all your information you will be called to provide your photograph and fingerprint (biometric data).
New voter registration or National ID Card update is an ongoing process. You can apply for new voter registration online anytime.
You must have the following qualifications:
- Must be a citizen of Bangladesh.
- Age not less than 16 years.
- Not previously registered for National Identity Card.
What does it take to be a new voter?
New voters need SSC certificate, birth registration, parents’ national identity card, citizenship certificate. Besides, copy of national identity card of 2 blood relatives other than father and copy of utility bill, house rent receipt or holding tax receipt as proof of address may be required.
After applying online, print copies of the application and photocopies of the following required documents should be submitted to the concerned election office.
- Print copy of form submitted online
- S.S.C. or equivalent certificate (for proof of age)
- Birth Certificate (for proof of age)
- Passport / Driving License / Teen Certificate (for proof of age)
- Photocopy of ID Card of Father, Mother, Spouse (Mandatory)
- Copy of utility bill/house rent receipt/holding tax receipt (as proof of address)
- Citizenship Certificate (as applicable)

Apply for new registration from this website services.nidw.gov.bd to make new voter id card online. Step 1- Apply for new NID card online
You can apply online for voter ID card (nid card er jonno abedon) from NID Online Registration website through internet browser from mobile or computer.
The advantage of applying online is that there is no chance of getting the National Identity Card information wrong as here you are providing your information manually. And the information given by you will be printed on the national identity card.
Follow the below steps to register new national identity card online.
- Account Registration
First you have to register your account in Bangladesh NID Application System in this link. See the image below.
Click on Apply button.
Enter your name, date of birth and captcha code here and click on submit button.
Then you have to give mobile number for mobile verification. Please provide your active and current mobile number.
You must provide your own mobile number or that of the person you are applying for. Because the number will be required for future login or password change.
Enter the 6-digit verification pin sent to your mobile and click on the Apply button to proceed to the next step.
Here you need to set a unique username and password. So that in future, by logging in with this user and password, you can download National Identity Card, apply for correction and avail other services.
Username should be a combination of English name and number and password should be at least 8 digits long.
If username already exists error showing username already exists, change username and try again.
Remember, your username cannot match anyone else’s. So think carefully and write to be unique.
2. Provide of Personal Information
After completing the account registration in the National Identity Card application system, you will see a dashboard like below. If you can’t log in automatically, you can log in with your username and password.
From here, apply for your new National Identity Card. Click on profile option and click on edit button from top right side. Then you will get a page like below, where you have to enter your personal information, other information and address.
In the first part 1 you have to enter all your details and must include your parents name and National ID number.
If you do not give the information of elder brother/sister, it may be beneficial for the future if you give it.
After that, you must give the marital status of the husband/wife, and give the name of the husband or wife according to the national identity card.
After that click on 2nd part other information.
Select your educational qualification, status and religion here. If you can provide other information, no decision will be any problem.
3rd part go to address option and select your current and employment.
Select your country of residence. Then tick (voter at this address) next to the address where you want to be a voter at present or permanent address.
Select Current Address and Permanent Address and Select Voter Area.
In the next step you need to upload the required documents.
- Upload documents and submit application
You must not upload scanned copies or images of required documents at this step.
Recheck your application details to ensure there are no mistakes.
If the information is correct, confirm and submit your application.
After submitting the application online, download your application form from the dashboard and print it on A4 size paper. Then resubmit the application along with other documents to the election office of the area where you are a voter. Well, your application process is over.
Step 2 – Verification
Your application will be verified by the Upazila or District Election Office. They may contact you to verify.
Step 3- Providing Biometrics
After verifying the application, you will be called to take your photograph and fingerprint (Biometric Information). After 10 to 15 days if your application is approved you can download National Identity Card online.

If the application is approved, you will receive a message on your given mobile number that your application has been approved. You can check the latest status of your application from your NID Application System dashboard.
